Farming journalist and presenter Dylan Winter spent three months in New Zealand recording a wide range of sheep farms and the background to them.
Sheep farms in New Zealand can be quite extensive, with one station featured in this dvd owning 40,000 ewes, 1,500 cows and 4,000 deer hinds. The breed names will be familiar, with Romneys, Merions and the Romney x Cheviots known as Perendales.
Dylan not only shows sheep farms in action but also digs under the surface by exploring meat/wool prices, the part cattle play on sheep farms and the continuing importance of the UK market. Dylan Winter sets the farming scene in its context with beautiful scenery and includes features on livestock markets, threats to native flora and fauna, how to trim 60ft hedges and the New Zealand Royal Show.
There are also interviews with some recent farming immigrants from Scotland who compare their experiences.
