Part Two of Serious Grass DVD continues to follow Andrew Atkinson's dairy farm in Lancashire. Concentrating particularly on the silage harvest, but also the rest of the year's tasks, what really makes this farm different is the way classic tractors and machinery are used on a regular basis.
Andrew has a passion for Ford Series 10 and 30 tractors and is not afraid to put their power to good use on the farm. With a huge fleet of Super Q Force II and Generation III tractors, including two Silver Jubilee 7810 machines, plus four Series 30 primemovers and two classic John Deere 6010 Series machines, Andrew uses all these tractors to run his farm.
In this programme we visit the farm for the second time to witness hedge cutting, third cut of silage bales, yard scraping and many other tasks besides. We also find out about the various tractors that Andrew has used over the years on his farm.
With the coming of high summer, Andrew uses the Ford 7810 tractors for manure spreading, spraying and topping duties. A John Deere 6610 also gets an outing 'till-sowing'.
This is a fascinating story of a family farm and the machinery used on it today as well as in the past.
