This Poultry DVD Collection includes the excellent programmes Poultry at Home presented by Victoria Roberts and Keeping Ducks by Tom Bartlett.
Poultry at Home: This beginner's guide to poultry management and health uses over fifty pure breeds to illustrate the various points to consider when choosing birds.
Within this programme Victoria Roberts advises and offers useful practical help on housing, handling, predators, feed and digestion, diseases and parasites, breeding, sexing, candling eggs and how to rear chicks. The programme was filmed at the Domestic Fowl Trust.
Victoria Roberts began her interest in poultry as a child. Following agricultural college, she ran an outdoor pure-breed enterprise that conserved and bred all the old poultry breeds. She is also a veterinary surgeon and has served for many years on the council of the Poultry Club.
Keeping Ducks: If you are starting with duck keeping or just interested in ducks, this programme by Tom Bartlett is well worth watching.
The presenter follows the journey of ducklings from incubation to adulthood as he explains his own methods of feeding, housing, breeding and general care for ducks at home and at shows. We meet Ross Kent, a beginner whose ambition is to breed quality birds, and with Tom's guidance Ross prepares for the British Waterfowl Championship.
This is the perfect way to get a thorough grounding in duck keeping, choosing a breed that appeals to you and enjoying some typical duck behaviour at Folly Farm, Gloucestershire in the company of the former President of the British Waterfowl Association.
The programme explains fully the requirements for duckponds and how to keep ducks in an ordinary garden.
