Published by the Oxford Publishing Company, Oxford to Cambridge Railway Volume One covers the section from Oxford to Bletchley. The line opened in 1851 and since this time the line has witnessed many events including the expansion of the railway network, the peak of the British Empire, the end of independent railway companies and the First World War. The Seond World War intensified traffic on the line like never before, including the development of the Bicester Military Railway. Peacetime saw the line closed to passenger traffic with the route still being used for freight.
This book provides the full history of the line with photographs, maps, drawings and timetables included. The book includes the following chapters:
Bicester and the Military Railway
Marsh Gibbon & Poundon
