Between 1969 and 1982 British Leyland produced a very successful range of tractors. The company also produced several films to show the tractors working, being built, tested and the introduction of new improvements.
This programme uses six promotional and product launch films to tell the story of the Leyland tractor from it's beginnings to the Marshall takeover. Introduced by Stephen Richmond the films show the first Leyland range being put through a ten day and ten night ploughing marathon, another film looks at the building, testing and use of the 1972 Leyland range around the globe. We then move onto the introduction of the Synchro range in 1978 before taking a fascinating look into the organisation and product range of Leyland Vehicles. We finish with the introduction of the Golden Harvester series in 1980.
By using the archive films in their entirety this programme puts a unique perspective on the only British tractor builder to remain British during its whole lifetime.
